Creg Phares has been climbing for seventeen years. The thirty-five year old California native has climbed from 5.13 trad to mid 5.13 sport all over the country. Creg first learned how to climb in Northern California, but grew up near Idyllwild, so early on he learned how to quickly make it up runout slabs. Creg has completely taken advantage of life and lives full-time in his van developing new bouldering areas primarily in and around the Sierras. He is proud to call Yosemite his home for the last sixteen summers, but he also has spent entire seasons in the Indian creek/Moab area, Joshua Tree, and many other places the sending temps have lead him. Traveling to new areas is what gets him the most psyched, but he loves to crack climb and search for new lines to establish. Hunting, fishing, and backpacking are some of his favorite things to do besides climbing. As Edward Abbey eloquently said, "Wilderness is not a luxury but is necessity of the human spirit." To date,
Creg's most proud of the development he has done for the bouldering scene in Tuolumne Meadows, and is looking forward to his next adventure with his Sterling 70m. Creg picks the 9mm Fusion Nano because it's lightweight and versatile.
