Description
The Sterling PDQ3 is a self-controlled emergency descent system engineered for wind turbine and cell tower technicians working at heights up to 150m. Building on years of field-proven performance with the PDQ platform, the PDQ3 delivers meaningful advancements in descent control, packability, and deployment. Available in 100m, 120m, and 150m kit configurations.
Details
When the only exit is down, the Sterling PDQ3 puts you in control. Purpose-built for wind turbine and cell tower technicians, the PDQ3 is a self-controlled emergency descent system rated for heights up to 150m and the only option on the market that gives the user full command of descent speed.
The PDQ3 represents the next evolution of Sterling's proven emergency descent platform. Every advancement, from the pull-down lever activation to the redesigned bag system, is grounded in real-world feedback and the engineering insight that comes from years of developing life-safety escape systems.
Pull-down lever activation delivers smooth, predictable performance under stress, while a built-in anti-panic feature prevents dangerous free-fall speeds. A new thumb-activated rope payout lets you manage slack near the anchor point before committing to descent. At the core of the system is Sterling's 6mm X-Tec technora rope, offering small diameter, minimal weight, and exceptional heat resistance.
Everything packs into a weather-resistant bag with optimized dimensions, an internal separation panel to prevent hardware tangling, rated tie-in points, and multiple carry options including integrated loops and a waist belt. A 48" Powercord Sling is included for creating an emergency anchor. Certified to ANSI Z359.9.
- Pull down lever activation delivers predictable, smooth, and reliable speed control during descent and reducing the margin for operator error under stress
- Self-controlled descent. Unlike auto-descent competitors, the PDQ3 gives the user full authority over descent speed for more control and more confidence
- Anti-panic feature automatically arrests descent if the user pulls too aggressively, preventing dangerous free-fall speeds
- Thumb-activated rope payout allows controlled slack management near the anchor point, so the user can position and maneuver before committing to full descent.
- 6mm X-Tec Technora rope is small, lightweight, packable and extremely heat resistant
- Optimized bag dimensions redesigned for greater compactness, making the system easier to carry on a harness and store in confined workspaces like nacelles and tower platforms.
- Built-in inner separation panel keeps hardware and rope organized inside the bag, eliminating tangles and ensuring fast, smooth deployment
- Multiple carry options with the integrated loops and waist belt for different work setups and personal preference
- Bag has rated tie-in points with listed working load limit
- Weather-resistant bag keeps system protected from moisture, dust, and jobsite conditions
- Certified to ANSI Z359.9-2021 (Type 3)
